Five-minute chess has a fixed place in the Nuremberg calendar through the Nürnberger Stadtblitzmeisterschaft, an open championship played as a monthly tournament that moves between the rooms of the clubs running it, for a small entry fee per evening.

Around it, several clubs put blitz on their own evenings. The Schachgemeinschaft 1882 Fürth plays a blitz series in the parish centre St. Heinrich, the Schachclub Höchstadt a monthly blitz tournament in the Ritter-von-Spix Mittelschule, and the BSGW in Erlangen-Eltersdorf keeps its Wednesday open for blitz, rapid or analysis. The SC Erlangen 48/88, SC JÄKLECHEMIE Talente Franken and the Schachclub Forchheim list blitz among their club formats.
